Values
Defend Democracy – Every vote counts – no exceptions, no excuses.
Democracy depends on informed citizens voting in free and fair elections. Elected officials are responsible to the citizens. Real people should have real access to their elected representatives: in-person Town Halls, accessible local offices, responsiveness to requests for constituent services – electronically AND personally.
Healthcare
Access to quality, affordable healthcare is needed by everyone.
Pennsylvania needs to maintain high quality medical schools across the state. These facilities are an asset in recruiting the next generation of healthcare professionals. York Countians are privileged to have access to first-class hospitals close to home with world-class hospitals nearby. Health insurance needs to be affordable and accessible to all – either through employers or through the Commonwealth-sponsored program – Pennie.
Senior Issues
Our seniors have several common challenges:
Increasing Cost of Living, including increasing tax burdens on their homes
Access to public transportation – this is especially acute in rural and suburban areas
Access to quality, affordable healthcare
Constituent Services
Many folks feel left behind by today’s economy. Tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy, but increased costs for us in food, utilities, fuel, homeowners and health insurance. Maybe you know folks who rely on SNAP benefits, Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. They have seen their care threatened by government cuts. I will work to support Pennsylvania programs that provide essential services to all of our neighbors in the District and throughout the Commonwealth. This may not fit on a bumper sticker, but I believe it is the second most important duty of public officials. (The first being an on-time balanced budget – every year.)
